Earthen Floors
Warm underfoot, alive in texture – floors made from earth bring ancient craft and real comfort together.
Poured Earth Floor & Clay Tiles
At Earth to Wall we work with two approaches: the poured earthen floor, a seamless surface that flows through the room and really comes into its own on larger areas – and clay tiles, individually laid elements that offer more flexibility. Both create a noticeably better indoor climate thanks to their solid, massive construction.

More than just a floor
Natural climate regulation
A thick layer of clay stores heat and releases it steadily. In summer the floor stays pleasantly cool; in winter it supports your heating system. And just like a good clay plaster, it quietly regulates indoor humidity too.
Design variety
From a simple, velvety look to rich, lively textures – anything goes. Earth pigments let you adjust the colour, and a final oil-and-wax treatment gives the floor its characteristic warm sheen. Over time, every earthen floor develops its own unique patina – that's what makes it special.
Sustainable through and through
The materials are local, the processing takes very little energy. Oil and wax your floor every few years, and it'll last for generations. And if something does get damaged? Just patch it up – done.
Perfect for underfloor heating
Earthen floors and underfloor heating are a great match. The solid clay layer absorbs heat evenly from the pipes and releases it gently into the room – a pleasant, natural radiant warmth that feels quite different from conventional flooring.
Build it yourself? Absolutely.
With the right guidance and a bit of practice, you can install an earthen floor yourself – whether as a continuous poured surface or as individual clay tiles. The materials are straightforward, and the process is manageable. Go for it.
