Lime Plaster

Natural Plaster

Clay and lime plaster are the two most important representatives of natural wall plasters. These mineral building materials consist exclusively of natural raw materials and have been used for wall design for thousands of years.

From magnificent palaces to simple dwellings - the art of natural plastering is one of humanity's oldest craft techniques. The basic mixture is surprisingly simple: a binder (clay or lime), aggregates like sand, and optionally fibers for reinforcement. What our ancestors knew from practical experience is confirmed by modern building biology today: These plasters not only create beautiful surfaces but actively contribute to a healthy indoor climate.

Clay and Lime Plaster - Sustainability at its Best

At Earth to Wall, we exclusively use clay and lime plasters without synthetic or chemical additives. These natural plasters fundamentally differ from conventional plasters. They actively work with their environment - their porous structure allows them to absorb and release moisture - a natural regulation mechanism that optimizes the indoor climate. They bind pollutants and odors, neutralize them, and thus contribute to a healthy living environment. Their durability and ease of repair make them a sustainable choice for generations.

Individual Strengths

Clay plaster is characterized by its exceptional moisture regulation. It can absorb up to 90% more moisture than conventional plasters and releases it when needed. The production is remarkably sustainable - the clay is merely sieved and mixed with sand and optional fibers, without energy-intensive processing steps. Due to its antistatic effect, it is particularly allergy-friendly and creates a cozy atmosphere with its warm, earthy tones.

Lime plaster impresses with its natural mold resistance and high weather resistance. Through its alkaline properties, it acts naturally antimicrobial. Particularly remarkable is its continuous hardening - by absorbing CO2, it becomes increasingly stable over time and develops its characteristic, timelessly elegant appearance.

Handmade Naturalness

Creating natural plasters is a fascinating craft that is still practiced today and is particularly suitable for DIY enthusiasts. The basic materials are available everywhere: clay can be obtained directly from the earth, while lime is produced from natural limestone. With the right sand as aggregate and optional organic fibers, plasters are created that can be individually adapted to any surface. The mixing ratios can be varied depending on the area of application and desired properties. Especially for DIY enthusiasts, the manageable number of basic ingredients and simple processing is a big advantage - no industrial production is necessary.
